A Small Town Saskatchewan Connection
While planning to attend a wedding in Parksville we found 40 Knots Vineyard & Estate Winery in Comox to visit located an hour drive north from our location. One of the winery owners listed on their website was Layne Craig! I only knew of one person with this name who grew up in the same small Saskatchewan town as me. Upon further inquiry, I confirmed it was the same person! My wife and I booked a tour and had an excellent time touring the winery and sampling many of their great wines.
About 40 Knots Vineyard & Estate Winery
Owners Brenda Hetman-Craig and Layne Craig are committed to providing quality wines, and a quality experience at their vineyard estate. “There is something special in the air at 40 Knots Winery, and the wines being produced are proof of that.“
40 Knots Winery promise is to produce clean, sustainability ethical wines. “Great wines are not made in the tank and the barrel. Great wines come from the vineyard.”
On August 29, 2017, I posted a 40 Knots Winery review on Facebook upon our return from B.C. The post still remains on our timeline, “Leila and I are back from a wedding at Tigh-Na-Mara Resort in Parksville on Vancouver Island. We spent the Thursday prior at 40 Knots Vineyard & Estate Winery in Comox owned by Layne & Brenda Craig. The same Layne Craig from Midale. I highly recommend stopping in at their winery if you are ever in the Comox area! Say Murray sent you. No, I do not get a commission 😭 They have a good thing going on in a beautiful, environmentally friendly winery in a very scenic location. Hey, he’s from Saskatchewan. Check out their website at www.40knotswinery.com/”
40 Knots Vineyard & Estate Winery has been recognized for their commitment to producing sustainability ethical wines by achieving Platinum Certified from Canada’s Green Tourism, delivered by Green Step Solutions International.
40 Knots is very happy to let people see their process and team at work, and provide opportunities to visit the winery, cellar, and vineyard.
Come take a stroll through their interpretive trail and learn about how they grow.
Murlo Notes: We can say from first hand experience that 40 Knots Vineyard & Estate Winery has much more to offer guests than great wine! Contact them to arrange a tour, tasting or an event the next time you are in the Comox area. Check out 40 Knots YouTube Channel for videos of their products and winery.
